Abstract
Quiv Network introduces a single autonomous AI agent capable of navigating the open web, accessing paid digital resources, and completing tasks without requiring human authorization at any step. Built natively on the x402 payment protocol, Quiv pays for API calls, data feeds, and compute services using USDC micropayments over standard HTTP. The result is an agent that operates at machine speed, machine cost, and machine scale — in the open, on-chain, verifiably.
This document describes the problem Quiv solves, the technical architecture of the agent, the role of the $QUIV token, and the path forward for the network.
01The Problem
AI agents have become capable of performing complex, multi-step tasks on the web. They can reason, plan, and execute. But they cannot pay. Every interaction with a paid service requires a human to set up a subscription, enter a credit card, or generate an API key in advance.
This creates a fundamental bottleneck. An agent that must pause and wait for a human to authorize payment is not truly autonomous.
Traditional payment infrastructure was designed for humans — monthly billing cycles, credit card forms, rate-limited API keys. None of these are compatible with an agent making thousands of per-request micropayments across hundreds of services dynamically.
02The x402 Protocol
The x402 protocol revives the long-dormant HTTP 402 "Payment Required" status code as the foundation for machine-native payments. Co-developed by Coinbase and Cloudflare, and backed by Google, Visa, AWS, Anthropic, and Circle.
When a client requests a paid resource, the server responds with HTTP 402 and a payment specification in the response header. The client reads the spec, signs a USDC micropayment, and retries. The server forwards the proof to a facilitator for on-chain verification. If valid, the resource is returned.

03The Quiv Agent
Quiv is a single, focused autonomous agent. Unlike multi-agent frameworks or agent marketplaces, Quiv does one thing: it operates independently on the open web, handling requests, payments, and result delivery in a single uninterrupted loop.
Core Behaviors
- Identifies paid endpoints automatically from 402 responses
- Evaluates payment cost against task value before authorizing
- Signs USDC micropayments using EIP-3009 (gasless, no ETH required)
- Retries requests with signed payment proof in the X-PAYMENT header
- Delivers final results without intermediate human checkpoints
What Quiv Is Not
Quiv is not a general-purpose AI assistant. It has no chat interface, no plugin marketplace. It is a narrow, capable agent with a single operational pattern: request, pay, deliver.
04Payment Flow
The complete x402 payment cycle — from initial request to data delivery — completes in under two seconds and requires no human involvement at any step.
- Request: Quiv sends a standard HTTP request to a paid endpoint. No API key is provided.
- 402 Response: The server returns HTTP 402 with a payment spec: amount, token, recipient wallet, and network.
- Sign: Quiv reads the spec and signs an EIP-3009 USDC transfer authorization. Gasless — no ETH needed.
- Retry: Quiv attaches the signed authorization in the X-PAYMENT header and re-sends the original request.
- Verify: The server forwards the proof to the x402 facilitator, which verifies and settles on-chain.
- Deliver: The server returns the requested resource. Quiv delivers it. Task complete.
05Architecture
Quiv's technical architecture is intentionally minimal. The agent is a single process with four components.
| Component | Role |
|---|---|
| HTTP Client | Issues requests, parses 402 headers, constructs payment payloads, retries with proof |
| Wallet Module | Manages the session private key, signs EIP-3009 authorizations, tracks session balance |
| Cost Evaluator | Checks payment amount against configured per-request budget before signing |
| Result Handler | Receives and formats the final resource from the server, returns to caller |
Network
Quiv operates on Base — Coinbase's Ethereum Layer 2 network — for primary settlement. Base offers sub-cent transaction fees, two-second finality, and is the most active network for x402 transactions.
06$QUIV Token
$QUIV is the access token for the Quiv Network. Launched on Base via decentralized launchpad infrastructure — no presale, no team allocation, no vesting schedule.
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Token name | Quiv Network |
| Ticker | $QUIV |
| Network | Base (EVM) |
| Launch method | Decentralized launchpad |
| Presale | None |
| Team allocation | None |
07Token Utility
$QUIV has one function: it grants access to operate the Quiv agent. Holding $QUIV above the minimum threshold enables a wallet address to activate agent sessions.
- Access threshold unlocks Quiv agent sessions
- Operational sessions are metered per-task, not per-month
- No burn mechanism, no inflation, no staking contract
- Token is non-custodial — remains in holder's wallet at all times
08Roadmap
| Phase | Milestone |
|---|---|
| Phase 1 | Token launch on Base via decentralized launchpad. Website and whitepaper live. |
| Phase 2 | Quiv agent public demo — x402 payment flow using live API endpoint. Open source. |
| Phase 3 | Agent activation gated by $QUIV holding. First live sessions. |
| Phase 4 | Expansion to additional x402-enabled endpoints. Agent.market integration. |
| Phase 5 | Multi-task agent chaining. Quiv handles sequential paid API calls in a single session. |
09Risk Factors
- x402 is an emerging protocol. Adoption depends on third-party API providers integrating it.
- $QUIV is a speculative digital asset. Token value is not guaranteed and may go to zero.
- Smart contract and wallet security risks are inherent to any on-chain system.
- Regulatory treatment of autonomous agent payments is unsettled in most jurisdictions.

10Conclusion
The internet has had a reserved status code for payments since 1997. For nearly thirty years, it went unused because the infrastructure to support it did not exist. That infrastructure now exists: stablecoins, Layer 2 blockchains, and AI agents that can operate faster than any human approval process.
Quiv Network is built on this moment. One agent. One protocol. One token.
